9 January 2025Revolutionizing healthcare: the role of artificial intelligence in modern medicine
The Centre de Recherche en Aménagement du Territoire (CRAT) organized in collaboration with the Service d’Epidémiologie et de Médecine Préventive – CHU Constantine, a scientific day entitled:
“Revolutionizing healthcare: The role of artificial intelligence in modern medicine”, on Sunday December 29, 2024.
The day was hosted by Dr. Salim BOUGUERMOUH (physician-researcher and digital health entrepreneur).
Dr. BOUGUERMOUH’s presentation analyzed the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, focusing on its potential in the Algerian healthcare system.
She explored the influence of AI technologies on various aspects of modern medicine, such as diagnosis, treatment, patient monitoring and care management.
Several areas were covered, including medical image analysis, ECG interpretation, pathology, diagnosis of rare diseases and mental health assessment.
The challenges of implementing these technologies in the Algerian context, particularly with regard to data confidentiality, algorithmic biases and the need for locally adapted databases, were discussed.
Dr. BOUGUERMOUH emphasized the need for AI solutions tailored to the specificities of the Algerian infrastructure and population, while guaranteeing high standards of care and data protection.
Finally, recommendations were made for the effective implementation of AI, including the development of local expertise, equitable access to technologies and the promotion of regional collaboration.
Dr. BOUGUERMOUH thus proposed a roadmap for the thoughtful integration of AI into the Algerian healthcare system, combining technological innovation and ethical issues.
